The next meeting of the Rome Area Writers will be on September 8th at 6 p.m. We will meet in the Etowah Room of the Rome-Floyd County Library. Joe Cook, local author and advocate of the Coosa River Basin Initiative, will discuss his latest published book about the Broad River. Members will also share their stories, poems or essays on this month’s prompt, “Labor.” The meeting is open to the public.
The deadline for submissions to our 16th Lavender Mountain Anthology is September 8. All paid members of RAW are encouraged to submit something. If you want to know more, come to our next meeting August 11! We will meet at 6:00, in the Etowah room of the Rome/Floyd Library.

Rome Area Writer member John P. Schulz has been nominated for Georgia Author of the Year in the category Secular Inspiration for his book Sweetie Drives on Chemo Days. Winners will be announced tonight at the Georgia Author of the Year Awards Ceremony, JUNE 4th 6-9pm at the KSU Center. Good luck, John!
The first Poetry Night for 2016 is scheduled for Thursday, May 26 at Schroeder’s on Broad Street. Come out and enjoy a relaxing evening in the courtyard and hear Rome’s finest poets. The readings will start around 7:00.
