Margaret Ward Ingram, local author, artist and retired educator was recently nominated for the 46th annual Georgia Author of the Year Award. The selection for this year’s awards will be announced at Kennesaw State University on June 19th. The nomination was based on Ingram’s novel titled Invasion of the Sparkspitters, a book for children ages eight through twelve. Previously the book received “Third Place” in the Novel Category at the Southeastern Writers Association’s annual conference held yearly at Epworth by the Sea in St. Simons, Georgia.
Ingram has short stories and poetry published in Lavender Mountain Anthologies.
Mrs. Ingram has lived in Rome since 1970 and taught in Floyd County Schools and at Shorter College until her retirement in 1995.
In addition to being involved in the literary arts she is a Watercolorist, and was recently hosted in a solo art exhibit at Shorter College’s Arnold Gallery. She was also selected by Rome Area Council for the Arts’ “Artist of the Year” for 2008-2009.
Invasion of the Sparkspitters is available for purchase at Rome/Floyd library gift shop, the Author’s Boutique in Garden Lakes and the gift shop at Rome Visitors Center.
The Barnes and Noble Bookstore will host a book signing for Mrs. Ingram and other local authors on April 17, 2010 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. |
